Bridgwater Community Diagnostic Centre Achieves Practical Completion

Ergéa UK is pleased to announce the successful completion of the new Bridgwater Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC), a landmark £17.8 million healthcare facility delivered through a long-term Managed Service partnership with Somerset NHS Foundation Trust.

The achievement marks the culmination of an ambitious programme that began with a ground-breaking ceremony, and the commencement of site works in October 2025. Through close collaboration between Ergéa UK, Somerset NHS Foundation Trust and building partner Actiform, the project has been delivered on budget and at exceptional speed, demonstrating the power of partnership in transforming healthcare infrastructure.

Through modern methods of construction, the build works were delivered and installed between January and March 2026, enabling rapid progress. Advanced diagnostic equipment was subsequently delivered and installed by early April 2026, allowing commissioning and final preparations to progress efficiently ahead of completion.

The facility officially achieved practical completion on 12 June 2026, marking a major milestone in Somerset’s long-term diagnostic transformation strategy. While the building will undergo final clinical preparations before welcoming patients later in the year, Ergéa UK has successfully fulfilled its delivery responsibilities, providing a state-of-the-art diagnostic facility ready for clinical activation.

We are delighted to reach practical completion of the Bridgwater Community Diagnostic Centre. A huge thank you to our partners at Ergéa UK, Actiform and Ridge and Partners LLP for their collaboration, expertise and commitment in bringing this project to life.
Delivering a project of this scale on budget and at record speed is a remarkable achievement and reflects the dedication of everyone involved.
This milestone also marks the successful conclusion of Somerset’s Diagnostic Transformation Programme. I am incredibly proud of what the team has achieved and, most importantly, of the impact it will have for local people. Through the programme, we have delivered an additional 877,608 diagnostic tests for the population of Somerset.”

David Craig, CDC Programme Director at Somerset NHS Foundation Trust

The Bridgwater Community Diagnostic Centre represents a significant step forward in improving access to healthcare for communities across Somerset. By bringing advanced diagnostic services closer to patients’ homes, we are helping to reduce waiting times, support earlier diagnosis and improve overall patient outcomes.
This project demonstrates what can be achieved when healthcare providers and industry partners work together with a shared vision. We are proud to have supported Somerset NHS Foundation Trust in delivering a modern, high-quality facility that will not only enhance the patient experience but also help relieve pressure on acute hospital sites, creating a more sustainable and accessible diagnostic service for the future.”

Mark Graves, CEO Ergéa UK

Modern Methods of Construction, or MMC, has enabled the construction of this essential medical facility to be constructed at pace and deliver a first-class CDC without compromise. Traditional construction methods are very linear in their nature which makes them very sensitive to critical path. MMC allows key critical works to proceed in parallel, and completion of the weathertight shell is achieved within days rather than weeks or months. Internal and external trades run simultaneously and independently thus avoiding programme conflicts. The outcome is a much shorter time from conception to delivering medical services without any compromise of standards, finishes or building performance. Working on this project with our Ergéa partners, the Trust and other stakeholders has been a very positive experience and the involvement and co-operation of all concerned has made this an exemplary project.”

Stefan Dransfield, Managing Director Actiform Limited

The project also highlights the strengths of Ergéa UK’s Managed Equipment Services (MES) model, which combines infrastructure delivery, medical technology procurement, equipment installation and lifecycle management within a single, fully integrated solution. This approach has enabled the rapid delivery of a complex healthcare facility while ensuring the highest standards of quality, performance and value.

From breaking ground in October 2025 to achieving practical completion in June 2026, the Bridgwater Community Diagnostic Centre stands as a testament to what can be accomplished through innovation, collaboration and a shared commitment to improving healthcare outcomes. As the final component of Somerset’s Diagnostic Transformation Programme, the centre represents a lasting investment in the health and wellbeing of local communities and a significant step forward in the future of diagnostic care across the county.
